washing down vitamin d pills with beer swill from the dimly lit hotel bar i've got a flask in my breast pocket for refills when the 3 am last call cries i know i will see the sunrise again but right now i can't believe it i fell asleep in the graveyard my back on the hard ground the soft snow made a sound when i fell on it in my parka the wolves howled and my loneliness abounded i know i will wake up somewhere warm soon but right now i can't believe it so what do you need so what do you need to get thru? tea and whiskey and fine tuning of your heart strings in an open key in the people's key

we could sleep off all the weeks left to your holiday of choice leave our baggage at the bedside & try to dream away the voices that could remind us that we are here and we're tangible now but it's so easy to just sleep off all our fears & never face them we could play attrition warfare in a fortress made of sheets slowly lose out to the tv become pixels on the flat panel screen so give me your hand to remind me that we are both here and give me something to hold on to so give me your word that i am not alone & that you are all here give me something to hold on to so give me your word that i am not alone & that you are all here give me something to wake up to so give me your word that i am not alone & that you are all here be my someone to wake up to

Long Day 02:43
it's been a long day/smoked a joint at lunch/8 hours longer than before/but everybody's gotta have their crotch/to keep their heart from kissing the floorboards/once the training wheels of childhood are rolled away. it's been a harsh winter/moved my ass up north/it lasted longer than before/but everybody's gotta have their dream/to keep their compass needle forward/when their nightmares take their shape and take centre stage. so: save me from my nightmares no! help me face them with a courage unknown to me previously i'm gonna shine a light on my dark dreams make friends with the ghosts hiding inside of me because everyone has got to look themselves right in the eye/and its up to them to decide what they see in the mirror's highlights had another sleepless night/spent it on a bus to meet an old/girlfriend at the airport/in my mind i was expecting to feel the same old rapport/but i was just setting myself up for heartbreak. you know that you will always change, you must expect the same of others: your mom your dad, your friends, your cat, and all your former lovers so don't save me from my nightmares no i must face them with a courage that's always been inside of me i'm gonna shine a light on all my dark dreams when all the hidden spaces are revealed then i can then i'll go to sleep

my love's on the wind in the north she shakes the pines she rides on the eastern storms and she wets their boughs as her tears rain down / as her cries ring out / into the night in the west i hear her voice in the songs of the ravens / all guttaral and in the south over the great lakes i hear the gulls echo her words but sentiment is for the birds i've had this seperation anxiety ever since i let the wilderness get away from me & in the mist between the trees i see her there i see her there & in the mist behind the buildings i see her there i see her there
